Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was born in Mecca around 570 CE, is revered as the final prophet in Islam, believed to be the recipient of divine revelations that compose the Quran, the holy book of Islam. Raised an orphan, he grew to be a respected merchant known for his integrity, earning the nickname “Al-Amin,” meaning “the trustworthy.” At the age of 40, Muhammad ﷺ began receiving revelations from the angel Jibril (Gabriel), calling people to monotheism and social justice, challenging the polytheistic and tribal norms of Meccan society. His teachings emphasized compassion, charity, and community, attracting a growing following but also facing opposition. In 622 CE, he and his followers migrated to Medina, marking the beginning of the Islamic calendar. Over time, he unified much of the Arabian Peninsula under Islam. Muhammad’s ﷺ legacy continues to influence over a billion Muslims worldwide, who regard him as a model of moral and ethical conduct.
